Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall blazoned: Per chevron Gules and Azure, a chevron Or and in base three wavy bars Argent, overall a torch Proper. All enclosed by a blue scroll inscribed "EXCELLENCE THROUGH KNOWLEDGE" in silver.

Symbolism
The torch symbolizes leadership, knowledge and the unit's training mission. The chevron denotes their support of all branches of the military. The wavy bars suggest the location of the unit in Lincoln, the capital and educational center of Nebraska, nestled within several springs and creeks which attracted the early settlers to the area.

The distinctive unit insignia was authorized on 24 Aug 1998.
